Why delaying Aayirathil Oruvan?

Selvaraghavan is taking his own sweet time in completing his pet project Aayirathil Oruvan, which he hopes will be a cult hit in Indian cinema, just as the Indiana Jones series was in Hollywood. Aayirathil Oruvan has been in the making for nearly two years now, with periodic release rumours. Even recently, it was said that the movie was to be a 2009 Diwali [October 17th 2009] release, after missing its earlier announced release date of Independence Day [August 15th]!

Coming up in November is Children’s Day and since the movie fits in the action adventure genre,this would be a good date to release it. But will that happen? At this point, even Selva is not too sure, because the post production work is taking longer than he anticipated. Re-recording for the movie is on at a reputed studio in London while graphics work is happening in Mumbai. With still one-third of the work remaining, it appears the wait will continue till Pongal 2010 [January 14th] and it may release with Vettaikaran! With Selva, you never know!

Vikram Praises Selvaraghavan

Vikram is gung ho about his next project, which is a film with Selvaraghavan. After working with Mani Ratnam in Raavan, its Vikram’s turn to work with one more maverick director in Kollywood. And he sure is excited about it. Says Vikram, “ Selva's one of the best directors today! He is unique in his style! His characters are always author backed with lots of scope to score at performance! What he has created for this movie is something both of us are revving to get at! We are trying something totally new! It will be totally shocking in its concept & commercial viability!”Revealing one line about his character in the film, he says, “My character is going to out of the box.” Now that’s enough food for thought for Vikram and Selva fans!

Director Selvaraghavan thrown out of PUB

The Tamil director Selvaraghavan and his actress wife Sonia Agarwal got separated recently. Selvaraghavan got into an affair with Tamil playback singer, actress and model Andrea Jeremiah, who will be seen playing the lead in his upcoming film, Aayirathil Oruvan.Selva and Andrea are frequently going to the PUBs after completing shooting for the day.

During one such trip, Raghavan annoyed her by not dancing with her and also not allowing her to dance with others. Andrea got furious over him and she complained to the pub management and asked them to throw him out of the pub.

Anaconda and more big creatures in ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’

Maybe, many of our filmmakers had tried reinventing big wild creatures on the screens. It’s much illustrious with P. Vasu attempting on that with ‘Chandiramukhi’. But everything seemed to be an odd factor. But now, filmmaker Selvaraghavan has made a great effort to present the figure of ‘Anaconda’ in his upcoming project ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’.

As Shankar is using the technique of ‘Animatronics’ for ‘Endhiran’, Selva too has geared up using the same technology.

According to the film’s inner source, the film is about time travel from 2009-to-7th Century. Incisively, during that point of time, there were so many gigantic creatures as Dinosaurs and Anaconda. So, the technical crew has attempted for such an unique thing.
Let’s hope things would be finely done…

Vikram's next film....

Finally, Vikram has made an official announcement that he will act in Selvaraghavan’s next untitled film. According to sources, both Vikram and Selvaraghavan had recently met over in a private place to discuss the final draft of their script. After the two-hour meet, filmmaker Selvaraghavan had confirmed that he would be directing Vikram in his next film slated to hit floors in November.

Earlier, Vikram had stuck shooting for a single film at a time and eventually landed up with an interval of more than a year between his each releases. Precisely, he has decided to shoot a couple of projects at the same time, so that there would be at least a couple of releases every year.


It is notable that Vikram completed Kandhasamy and Mani Ratnam’s bilingual film Raavan (merely climax portions are pending now). Once the filming of Raavan is done, Vikram will gear up for Selvaraghavan’s untitled film as well Yaavarum Nalam fame Vikram Kumar’s 24 simultaneously in October.

Selvaragavan - Sonia Agarwal file for divorce!

Now it is officially declared! It is none other than the news of Sonia Agarwal - Selvaragavan divorce. Both Sonia and Selvaragavan have filed their papers for divorce based on 'mutual consent' in the family court at Chennai Egmore court campus.

According to sources, the trouble began with the actress and singer Andrea's entry in Aayirathil Oruvan last year. Sonia alleged Selva that he was having an affair with the actress. Sources say that one day during the shooting of the film in Hyderabad, Sonia is reported to have barged into the sets and slapped Andrea in front of the crew.


Close friends and relatives, including Superstar Rajinikanth, tried to save the marriage, but it was too late as the relationship had hit a dead end. Sonia's re-entry as actress in TV shows and serials made the issue worse and forced them to live separately. Sonia was initially reluctant for a divorce, and tried for patch up. However finally she agreed for a 'divorce by mutual consent'.

Selva had first met Sonia in early 2002, when he signed her for his path breaking Kadhal Kondein, opposite his brother Dhanush. It was her debut film in Tamil and released on July 4, 2003 and went on to become a sensational super hit.

After nearly 4 years, both were married in style on December 15, 2006 at Rajah Muthiah Chettiyar Hall in Egmore, Chennai in the presence of 'Super star' Rajinikanth and attended by the who's who of Kollywood. Before getting married they were living together for nearly four years.
