A.R. Rahman play a role in Hollywood film

Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE) for the first time will be seen in front of the camera in upcoming film SON OF A PREACHER MAN, about the life and times of Grammy winning singer-songwriter-producer PJ Morton.

Besides Rahman, other cast includes American Gospel musician Kirk Franklin (NORBIT), Grammy nominated American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard (LIFE ON A STICK), and producer Warryn Campbell (STOMP THE YARD). Shot in Atlanta and New Orleans in USA and London in United Kingdom, it will be released in 2010. Michael Akwesi Djaba (REASONABLE EXCUSE) is the director.

Rahman and Morton collaborated on Sajna song in recent Hollywood comedy COUPLES RETREAT.

Rahman, who has reportedly recorded sales of over 300 million, was called "Mozart of Madras’’ by Time magazine. Rahman sees music "as a way to connect to spirituality and embrace it" and for "creating harmony in troubled times".

A R Rahman has done it again! After spelling a magic at the Academy Awards this year winning two Oscars, A R Rahman was the star attraction at the White House in Washington.
Rahman was among the select few Indians who were specially invited by President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Oscar winner Rahman also provided part of the entertainment that also included Jennifer Hudson.

The Mozart of Madras as usual stunned the gathering with a musical performance which included a special song “Jai Ho” from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ that fetched him an Oscar.
The dinner was hosted to coincide with Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's visit to the country. The guests were chosen by a special team appointed by Obama. On the occasion, Rahman was felicitated by Obama and Manmohan Singh.

AR Rahman bags World Sound track Award

Oscar winner A R Rahman added a feather to his cap by bagging another award at the 9th publication of the World Sound track Awards at a function synchronising with the Ghent Film Festival in Belgium. The music mastermind has bagged the best innovative song written straight for a motion picture honor for Jai Ho, the song with the intention of achieved a cult position.

Michael Jackson desired to work with me : A.R.Rahman

Oscar winning music composer A.R.Rahman in a recent interview revealed that Pop king Michael Jackson desired to work with him. Rahman also showered praises on the world's greatest entertainer and perhaps its most enigmatic figure.

"Micheal Jackson is amazing and undoubtedly the last King of Pop. He was a great human being. He called me just a couple of months before his demise, expressing an interest in working with me, but unfortunately that was not to be," said A.R.Rahman.

A.R.Rahman music album with K Vishwanath

Oscar winning music director A.R.Rahman will be composing a music album in Telugu under the supervision of legendary director K Vishwanath. Rahman, who is in Hyderabad said that he is a great fan of K Vishwanath and his movies.He also added that he is delighted to work with the legendary person.

Mr Rehman will be performing a live concert in Hyderabad on October 24th. This concert was a part of Rahman's world tour. GMR group is organizing this event, which would be dedicated to former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and revenue would be donated to CM Relief Fund.

Mr Rahman is composing music for Pawan Kalyan starrer Puli in Telugu after a long gap. His previous film in Telugu is Mahesh Babu and Amisha Patel starrer Nani.

A.R.Rahman charges Rs. 2 crores for Jessy

Oscar winning music director A.R.Rahman has reportedly charged a woofing sum of Rs.2 crores for Naga Chaitanya's second film Jessy. The film is directed by Gowtham Menon and produced by Manjula under Indira Productions banner. Samantha is debuting as an actress in tollywood with this film.

Endhiran's Robo lab destroyed

Rajinikanth-Shankar's forthcoming film Endhiran - The Robot is in the last leg of shooting. Right now the unit is canning the climax scenes involving Rajinikanth in a specially erected set. The scene is Robo lab destroying in the fire. The climax scenes are canned under the supervision of prominent Hollywood director George Lucas. Hollywood technicians have come down to work on the visual effects of this climax scene. This scene with huge blazing fire all around will remain for 4 minutes on screen.

Aishwarya Rai plays the female lead in the film. Music of the film is by A.R.Rahman. The movie will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages. Ayngaran International and Eros Multimedia combinely producing this film with a woofing amount of Rs.120 crores.

AR Rahman to recompose music for Roja

Indeed, the academy award winner A.R. Rahman will emblazon his first love ‘Roja’ with new colors. This is about Rahman reinventing his debut film with new flavors on musical track. After much courses of planning, producer K. Balachandar of Kavithalaya Productions has decided to dub ‘Roja’ in English.

It has been confirmed by the closer sources that Rahman is set about adding more effects to all the songs as well recompose background score with latest technology of Dolby Digital. At that point of time, when Rahman made his debut for this film, there weren’t facilities for this technology and entire songs were recorded at ‘mono’ tracks.

Mani Rathnam has planned to offer a new title and trim the film making it apt for international audiences. It’s noteworthy that ‘Roja’ holds a prominent place amongst ‘one of the ever-best world cinemas’ by Time Magazine.
