Legendary actor Kamal Haasan on Friday urged the government to start Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for aspiring technicians in the film industry.
"The technicians should equip themselves with the latest technology. All we need to do is to train ourselves to meet the challenges. ITIs would give necessary training to technicians. Hence the government should come forward to start training institutes to benefit film technicians," he requested.
Kamal stressed the need of an institute for the film technicians. Recalling his earlier days in the film industry, Kamal said that his first preference was to enter the filmdom as a technician but fate, in the form of K Balachandar, made him a star.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was felicitated with a lifetime achievement award. Kamal showered praises on Karunanidhi. "I learnt acting only through his dialogues. His pen is still active," he said.
