‘Tamil cinema has surpassed a lot in terms of technology and script’ says Karthik… The yesteryear superstar Karthik is back in showbiz with rejuvenated looks. Yeah! Ace actor Karthik has almost completed shooting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavana’ and Arun Vijay starrer ‘Maanja Velu’.

“I really regret for wasted 5 years. Now, I’m almost like a newcomer and have to learn many things…” he says. Speaking about his working experience with Mani Ratnam, the actor states that he owes a lot to this filmmaker, who offered him a break with ‘Agni Natchathiram’. He clearly states that ‘Raavana’ would be a milestone in his career.

Already many filmmakers have approached Karthik and he has decided to sign other projects after the release of these films…

Arun Vijay & Karthick's Maanja Velu is all set to release on 29 Jan

Maanja Velu is a forthcoming Tamil language film to be released in 2010. It stars Arun Vijay and Dhansika in the lead roles. Karthik, Prabhu, Santhanam and Riyaz Khan also have significant roles in the film. Santhanam and Ganja Karuppu take care of the comedy part. Most of the team from the successful venture, Malai Malai are reunited in this film, which is a remake of the successful 2007 Telugu film Lakshyam. It is slated to release on 29 January 2010.

Arun Vijay injured at shoot

After the hit of his ‘Malai Malai’ Arun Vijay was in full spirit to do the best. It is not only the next film for Arun Vijay, but also for the whole crew of ‘Malai Malai’. The climax fight scenes of the film were being canned in Ekkattuthangal Burma Colony Muneeswarar Temple, Chennai. A scene featuring 400 junior artists and 25 stunt artists was canned in a festival set that was erected around the temple.

A scene in which Arun Vijay kicking two fighters by jumping from a platform was being shot, for which both the fighters were tied on with a transparent nylon rope, to avoid accidents. Unexpectedly one of the nylon ropes got tangled with Arun Vijay’s right arm while he was performing the action. Arun Vijay’s elbow was badly injured due to the accident and the whole arm swell at once. Immediately the actor was offered first aid by the stunt master Kanal Kannan and was rushed to the hospital where he was offered emergency treatment. The doctors have advised 3 days rest to the actor and the scenes that do not involve the actor are being shot at present.

Aayirathil Oruvan Vs Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai For Pongal Race

2010 is gonna be the most happening year for Tamil film buffs as the very opening will have biggies clashing at box office. Yes, trade analysts have confirmed couple of Pongal releases – Karthi's 'Aayirathil Oruvan' and Vishal’s ‘Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai’. Both the films have been much making high waves in town with accordance to its unique traits.

As well all know, Selvaraghavan’s ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ is based on fantasy, action-adventure where audiences and professionals in showbiz will have to witness something new-fangled with it. Starring Karthi, Andrea and Reema Sen in lead roles, Parthiban takes on the role of a king of ancient century. Producers of this film have planned to launch the trailer by first week of December.

Director Shankar To Launch Paiyya Audio

The most expected flick of this season, Karthi and Tamanna starrer ‘Paiyya’ will have its audio launch on this Sunday evening (November 22) at Satyam Cinemas. Director Shankar will launch the film’s audio while actor Surya will receive the first copy.

It’s gonna be the most happening occasion with who’s who of Kollywood gracing over the occasion -Tamil Film Producers Council President Ramanarayanan and other members of production council, Abhirami Ramanathan, K. When will Aayirathil Oruvan hit the screen?

Selvaraghavan is taking his own sweet time in completing his pet project Aayirathil Oruvan, which he hopes will be a cult hit in Indian cinema, just as the Indiana Jones series was in Hollywood. Aayirathil Oruvan has been in the making for nearly two years now, with periodic release rumours. Even recently, it was said that the movie was to be a 2009 Diwali [October 17th 2009] release, after missing its earlier announced release date of Independence Day [August 15th]!

Coming up in November is Children’s Day and since the movie fits in the action adventure genre,this would be a good date to release it. But will that happen? At this point, even Selva is not too sure, because the post production work is taking longer than he anticipated. Re-recording for the movie is on at a reputed studio in London while graphics work is happening in Mumbai. With still one-third of the work remaining, it appears the wait will continue till Pongal 2010 [January 14th] and it may release with Vettaikaran! With Selva, you never know!

‘Paiya’ for Pongal?

Apart from ‘Vettaikkaran’ and ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’, one more film too has joined the Pongal race. And it is Lingusamy’s ‘Paiya’, starring Karthi Sivakumar and Tamannah in lead roles. If sources are to be believed, attempts are on to release the movie for the harvest festival, as the director hopes that his product would match the festival mood. “The film is being shaped up in a racy way,” they add.

Besides, rumours are agog in cinema circles that the film’s rights would be bagged by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies, whose latest venture ‘Aadhavan’, the Suriya starrer, is doing well in the box office.

On ‘Paiya’, Lingusamy says, “It is a travelogue kind of action adventure. Karthi starts a journey from Bangalore to Mumbai along with Tamannah. The hurdles they face during their trip and they overcome everything is Paiya to you.” source: indiaglitz.com

Dhanush and Andrea in 'Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam'

‘Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’ the close-to-heart project of Selvaraghavan was supposed to start in the year 2006. The film was supposed to star Karthi and Sandhya in the lead but due to certain reasons, was shelved. And now the director has dusted the project out of his reserve and has placed it on track with his dear bro Dhanush in the lead.



It can also be recalled that the project got revived in the year 2008 by means of a photo-shoot with Dhanush and Andrea as the lead pair. Sadly the movie was shelved till now as the director was busy with his action-adventure ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ with Karthi, Andrea and Reema Sen in the lead.

At last, ‘Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’ is active again and will be a quickie. Sources say that Dhanush has given a short span of his time and the film will be shot in just 50 days! Plus, the film will be produced by Selvaraghavan himself.

A birdie says Selvaraghavan and music director GV Prakash will be flying down to Amsterdam and Netherlands soon to compose the musical scores, wherein one song has been composed already. The other cast and crew of ‘Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’ will be announced formally in a short while.

Post success of Paruthiveeran, it’s been a long gap for Karthi as he was busy shooting for ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ (nearly couple of years). Karthi does the lead role of a young guy with enchanting nature while Tamanah performs the role of his ladylove. Hindi Film Industry’s Milind Soman who made a great show with ‘Pachaikkili Muthucharam’ plays the antagonist part.

Director Lingusamy had got to headlines with consecutive hits of ‘Aanandham’, ‘Run’ and ‘Sandakozhi’. However, his previous film ‘Bheema’ starring Vikram received lukewarm response leaving Lingusamy bounded to bad critics. Exactly now, he has determined to strike back with his forthcoming film ‘Paiyya’.

The film’s shooting started-off before few months across the Highway locals of Bangalore-Mumbai. Right on the day the filming started, there have been buzzes that it’s a remake of Hollywood Blockbuster ‘Hitcher’. According to Lingusamy, he completely denies it saying the film is about a journey of a sweet guy and charming girl and the various characters they encounter. Most of the talkie portions have been canned across the busy Highway Roads of Bangalore-Mumbai.

Technically, the film has an excellent crew of Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring music for 5 songs. Brindha Sarathi will be taking care of dialogues as Lingusamy just handles story, screenplay and direction.

Rajeevan who has worked on best eye-catching ambiences is the art director and Mathi is canning the best shots of the exotic locales.

Right now, the film’s shooting has been stalled due to heavy downpour of rain in Mumbai. The film is produced by Lingusamy’s brother Subash Chandra Bose under the banner of Tirupathi Brothers Media Pvt Ltd.
