Kavalan Music Review | Kavalan Songs Review

Tamil latest film Kaavalan starring Vijay and Asin Thottumkal in lead roles, the film is the remake of the director's own previous Malayalam film Bodyguard. The film began its principal shoot in April 2010. Previously titled as Kaavalkaaran and Kaaval Kaadhal, the film will feature music composed by Vidyasagar. Before the official audio launch of the film, which was held on 8 December 2010, the album was pre-released on the internet the previous day. The film is expected to release in theaters on 24 December 2010.

The success duo – Vijay and Vidyasagar- is again on the air. The project is much hyped Kavalan. Actor Vijay always has a mission for numbers – whether it is the audience or the music- The song from Gilli- Appdai Podu- returned the music director Vidyasagar's involvement for Vijay movie. The same spirit could not succeed later with Kuruvi, as the songs faded with the flop of the movie itself. Now the challenge is ahead for Vidyasagar to revive the spirit and fulfill the expectations of Vijay fans.

The lyrics for Kavalan are penned by Pa Vijay, Yugabharathi, Viveka and Kabilan. The songs are rendered by Karthik, Swetha, Tipu, Benny Dayal, KK, Rita and Megha, Suchitra

Vinnai Kappan – Swetha, Tippu

The song is craved to feed the longings of the fanatic mass of the hero. Pa Vijay has clipped the words to suit the expose of the hero. The song does not fall under the routine Vijay mode but the voices of Tipu and Swetha give weight and vigor to it. No special remark can be made.

Yaradhu – Karthik, Suchitra

Karthik and Suchitra have given life to this melody fine tuned and composed by the eminent Vidyasagar. Though it recaps the ones like Kanden Kanden, this song stands for the mild mixing of the scores from the instruments especially violins. The craftsmanship of Vidyasagar is apparent in this song. One for once more.

Step Step – Benny Dayal, Megha

Vidyasagar has in mind the dance prowess of Vijay, as revealed in Kuruvi's song, and this song is a nice addition to enthrall Vijay audience on western notes. The fusion of lyrics and the base sounds is fine that the utterance is very clear. Real energy for an active choreography( only the movie will unveil the strength). Benny and Megha are alive all through the song while the background score is quite amazing. Viveka's lyric fits in the tune perfectly.

Sada Sada – Karthik

Another number from Karthik and he does not disappoint us with his quench for the pitch. Vidyasagar's mastery is well revealed in this song by relying heavily on Karthik. Yugabharathi's words have magic for the tune and till the end the tempo is maintained by both Vidyasagar and Karthik. Kudos to them.

Pattamboochi – Kay Kay, Rita

You can categorise this song, rendered by KK and Rita for the words from Kabilan, under melo-romantic. The hierarchy of instrumentation is best exposed by Vidyasagar. He has kept the level of enthusiasm and energy and has balanced the items for the song. His vision of Vijay fans is elevated through this song. A real dedication to the budding fans of Vijay.

Verdict:

What could be allured to this new arrival! Vidyasagar's individual performance is highly solicited and he has fittingly responded to it. He is conscious that in this film, he is synchronizing the lyric and music for music sake, not for hero's sake. Yet he has disappointed Vijay's fanatic group and he is inducing the momentum through two numbers. Perhaps, the songs may hit the repetition post-release of the movie. The songs will be a nice pastime, indeed.
