A devastating earthquake, with a magnitude of 6, hit Southeastern Turkey, killing 57 people and around 100 people got injured.
According to reports from the prime minister's office, the earthquake had a magnitude of 6 and the incident happened early morning 4:32 a.m in Kovancilar district in Turkey. The earthquake was followed by many aftershocks.
"Many houses have collapsed," "Search and rescue teams have been sent to the area," the prime minister's office said.The Okcular village was badly hit killing about 17 people and most of the homes were damaged. In Yukari Demirci another 13 people got killed.
Lots of buildings collapsed in the earthquake. Police, paramilitary officers and general are digging the debris of the damaged buildings. The earthquake also affected the neighbouring provinces of Tunceli, Bingol and Diyarbakir.
