Legendary actors Mohanlal and Thilakan have come together on screen once again as father and son duo in director Rosshan Andrrews' Malayalam movie Ividam Swargamanu. The combination of Mohanlal and Thilakan in films like Kireedam is still talked about though the two drifted away soon after.

James Albert, the script writer of films like Classmates and Cycle, is the scenarist. Ividam Swargamanu is a realistic story, says the director, where the lives of common people are told. Shooting is nearing completion at various locations in Kochi. The film will release in December.

Mohanlal plays a farmer, Mathews while Thilakan plays Jeremias, his father. Mathews is trying to realize his father's dream of setting up a huge farmhouse with cattle, vegetables and the like, on the banks of the river Periyar. But things go from bad to worse as a rich man by the name of Aluva Chandy (Lalu Alex) comes along. Chandy wants to buy his land but Mathews is not ready for the deal. The film narrates how Mathews resists Chandy's wily moves.

Ividam Swargamanu, produced by Ashirvad Cinemas, also stars three heroines -- Priyanka Nair, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Lakshmi Rai. Priyanka, who won the Kerala state film award for best female actor recently, plays Betsy, a TV reporter. Lakshmi Gopalaswamy is Maria, a manager of a financial enterprise company while Lakshmi Rai plays Sumathi, a lawyer.

"We are often too emotional about the lands we own but seldom do we realize that it originally belonged to someone else in the past and will be owned by someone else later on. But we fight for such things still," Rosshan says.

James Albert says "it's not just about farms, but there are also scenes that show legal battles, and the current social scenario in general." The cast also includes Sreenivasan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Shankar, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and Sukumari. Divakar wields the camera while Mohan Sithara scores the music for Ividam Swargamanu.
