The national film awards for 2007 has been announced and there is good news for Kannada film industry as well. Actress Umasree has been adjudged the best actress award for her performance in the Kannada film, 'Gulabi Talkies' directed by Girish Kasarvalli.
Her role as a Muslim midwife in the film has earned her much appreciation. She also received Karnataka State award for Best Actress for the year 2008 for the same film.
Responding to the award announcement, Umashree said it was a great honor and that she was grateful to the director for it.
