19 Steps is a Indo-Japanese multi-lingual movie . The movie is produced by Walt Disney will have a budget of about 50 million dollar, will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Japanese. The story, set in the 9th century, is about a Samurai warrior (Tadanobu Asano) trying to learn Kalaripayattu, Kerala’s ancient martial arts form, from a Kalaripayattu guru (Kamal Hassan). Asin plays a Malayali princess who falls for Tadanobu Asano.
The movie is based on a script written by the best-known Malayalam writer, M.T. Vasudevan Nair, popularly known as MT, a Jnanpith award winner who has won five National awards for screenplay writing. MT's script is now being re-written by Hollywood script doctors to give 19 Steps an international look and suitable for an overseas audience
